Why use Drones?
Drones have many positives in which can help your schemes. The three main advantages are Time savings, Cost Savings and Health and Safety. 3 items in which are some main considerations in a project. Unmanned aircraft can save your scheme money with the time savings but also for a small upfront outlay they can be sent to spot up and coming problems. From here you can utilise the appropriate methods to fix the problem.
Drones can survey larger areas and, in less time, than conventional methods. But we can also utilise combined surveying. Combining conventional methods such as utilising a robotic total station with the drone data in which is produced into a point cloud. Sending the aircraft off on a pre-programmed flight route ensuring that all overlap and GSD (Ground Sampling Distance) is accurate. Maintaining the accuracy of the point cloud.
Sending personnel from a workforce to an area in which is known to be dangerous or to have larger risks is not possible in this day and age. From here we are able to send a drone out to capture the problem area or to retrieve data for investigative works to be able to plan for future works.
Utilising Aerial Imagery in any scenario being on a construction site or for general photography gives a new perspective on imagery. Showing everything from a new angle allows a fresh approach.
Drones in Construction
Drones can be uses in a wide variety of industries and the Construction Industry is one.
These Unmanned Aircraft can be used to influence Site Management, Site Records, Site Quality, Site Progression and Site Health and Safety.
With the introduction of a drone to your site, we can quickly set up and survey your project. We can obtain detailed imagery and videos for your analysis. We at Standen Site Engineering and Surveying Ltd can supply a new angle on the saying 'The Camera Never Lies'.
Why not use Aerial Imagery in your weekly report. Using Aerial Imagery in your weekly reports will save time but also have the ability to show changes to the site week on week in an ever-advancing way. Also showing clients these images proves to them that you are using the latest in technology in which broadens the horizons to future work.
Commonly within the construction industry we overlay the site designs over a live 2D map in which is produced by the the photogrammetry process. This can then be given to the site team where they can plan works around current site conditions, arrange required workforce and plant for any given activity. Understanding where the design sits within a live site without setting anything further out has proven advantageous in bringing a project in on program.
Drones in Surveying
Surveying is an ever-advancing industry but with the use of Drones, we can collect large amounts of data in small amounts of time. Accuracy can be kept to sub 30mm with the use of the latest hardware and software.
With the combination of conventional techniques and drones, we can use a multi-platform approach to producing the best results in a smaller amount of time.
3D Photogrammetry is an up and coming services in which enables the stitching together of Photos to create a 3D model. From this, we are able to interpolate the data into digital surfaces, from there we can compute volumetric calculations, surface comparisons and complete Topographical Surveys.
Using Unmanned Aircraft to survey inaccessible areas knowing the data you are getting is accurate allows this method to be advantageous to a business. Meaning that no personnel will get injured in the process of assessing an area. We are able to supply point clouds, arrange video calls to share 3D meshes and produce full detailed surveys around the aerial data.
